Father’s Day for a formerly homeless dad and his son!

You can make a single dad’s father’s day awesome!

We have a great opportunity to make a single dad’s father’s day really spectacular this Sunday.  We couldn’t make a delivery last Sunday because we didn’t have any volunteers. We hope we can make it happen this Sunday, Father’s Day!  Starting at 12 noon this Sunday we need a driver and 3 – 4 volunteers to make this happen.

Also on Saturday, 6/20, starting at 10:00am from the warehouse, we need to return to the same donor in Bloomfield from last weekend  to collect the remaining items in the house, which include a bedroom set (bed, nightstand and dresser), a dining room table, a couch, a side table, a dresser and a nightstand.  We need a driver and 3-4 volunteers to complete the pick-up we began this past Sunday.

This Sunday is also drop off day at the warehouse at 93 Talcott Road in West Hartford from 10AM to 1PM.  We need a few people to staff the warehouse and accept donations and keep the warehouse organized.  Please sign up on our Doodle site or contact Sam Paul at warehouse.coordinator@ahandupinc.org to let us know you’re coming.   Thanks for considering helping us lend a helping hand to others in need.

Activity update: This past Saturday we assisted a client who came to the warehouse with her sister and her sister’s boyfriend and a truck to load all of the items on her list.  With Sam Paul’s help she received a houseful of furniture and was ever so grateful for all the items that were able to fit on the truck.  The following day, Sam Paul met volunteers Bill Conley and Josh and Aaron Appell for one pickup at a donor in Bloomfield that was emptying the contents of their home.  We’re hoping to return this Saturday to get the remainder of the items.
