See our stats for the year! and there’s still time for a couple more deliveries!

A huge THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who have helped make 2015 the best year yet for A Hand Up.  We made deliveries to 160 clients in need while collecting donated furniture from 263 individuals and organizations.  We absolutely could not do any of this without your help.  On behalf of the Board of Directors, we wish all of our supporters a Happy And Healthy 2016!!

Last Saturday we delivered early holiday gifts to two clients who needed furniture for their apartments.  Sue Kayeum led a team of volunteers comprised of Ted and Sam Newton, Peter and Keegan Leahy, the two Seans (Keating & Langan) and, of course, Alan Heins on two stops.  The first to Emma and her grandson who needed bedroom and living room furniture and some items for the kitchen.  The second stop was to Cassandra who needed linens, living room furniture and kitchenware for her apartment.  Thanks to everyone who helped out.  The next day was our second Drop Off Day for this month.  While Jim, Marnie, Mark, Mike and Jeremy staffed the warehouse, Sam and Thomas made 2 stops in West Hartford and another in Newington to pick up furniture to replace our depleted stock.  They scored a love seat, a TV stand, 4 dressers, 2 twin bed frames, 2 night stands, a book shelf, a headboard, a coffee table, and an ironing board.  We also had a client, Carilyn, stop by to pick up bedroom furniture, a kitchen table and chairs, linens, dishware, glassware, and other kitchenware.  Thanks to the Drop Off volunteers for helping us keep the warehouse neat and organized.

This weekend we are recognizing Boxing Day (12/26) and giving our hardworking volunteer staff a day off.  On Sunday, 12/27, starting at 12:00 noon at the warehouse, we would like to give late Christmas presents to two clients in East Hartford who have been waiting several months for furniture for their apartments.  We need a driver and 3-4 volunteers that can load and unload furniture.  Please let us know if you can help us close out another successful month of assisting those in need.
