We wish all of our volunteers a Happy New Year!! To help you fulfill your resolution to engage in more outreach activities, we have our first Drop Off Day of 2016 this Saturday, 1/2, from 10:00am – 1:00pm. We are also making a delivery to a formally homeless vet who found an apartment in a senior housing facility in Southington. We need a driver and 3-4 volunteers that can load and unload furniture. Please help us kick off the new year with delivery number one of 2016.
The past week we have been busy with both pick-ups and deliveries. On Christmas Eve, we provided furniture to a vet and his wife who were just moving into their apartment that day. They found everything they needed for their bedroom and living room plus linens, towels, pillows and kitchenware. On Boxing Day, we provided beds, dressers, living room furniture, kitchen table and chairs, linens, towels, pillows, dishware, flatware, glassware, kitchenware, pots & pans, etc. to a family of six. The following day, Danny & Sean Keating, Alan Heins and Faraneh Carnegie-Hargreaves made a delivery to an individual in East Hartford who had nothing but a TV (of course) and an air mattress in his apartment. We set him up with furniture for his bedroom, living room and kitchen. He also received everything he needs for sleeping, cooking and eating. He was very grateful for everything we provided for him and the transformation in his apartment was amazing! A big thanks to the volunteers that helped Joseph.
