Come join the fun: Friday, April 29, our 5th annual fundraiser at the Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield.
Activities and Help Needs:
We spent a busy two days last weekend filling the warehouse back up with furniture to donate to clients. On Saturday the team of Alan Heins, Sean Keating, Christian Thomas and Sam Paul made four stops and filled the truck up with a kitchen table and 4 chairs, sofa, love seat, two twin beds, end tables, book shelves and other household goods. The following day was our second Drop Off Day from 10:00am – 1:00pm and we split duties. Mike Fishman and Rotarian Pat Kiley stayed at the warehouse and collected donated furniture while also helping two clients that came to the warehouse to pick up the items on their respective lists. In the meantime, Rotarian Chad Licht, his son Nathaniel, Christian Thomas and Sam Paul made a run out to West Simsbury to pick up two upholstered chairs, a sofa, kitchen table and 4 chairs, and a bedroom set and then made a second stop in West Hartford to pick up a dresser, end tables and many boxes of pots and pans and other kitchenware. Mike and Pat were just finishing up with the second client (2 adults and 8 kids in a 6 bedroom apartment!) when the team got back and unloaded the furniture from the two stops. A huge thanks to the West Hartford Rotary Club and son for their help on Sunday, to Christian for his assistance both days, Sean (Saturday), Alan (Saturday) and Mike (Sunday) for helping out.
This weekend we have scheduled two deliveries. On Saturday, 4/23, starting at 10:00am we are delivering to a disable vet, Ernest, who has been waiting 60 days to sleep on a mattress and have something to sit on in the living room. We need a driver and 3-4 volunteers to help Ernest out. On Sunday, 4/24, starting at 12:00 noon, we have scheduled a delivery to Patience who has been waiting a couple of months to receive three beds for her children. We need a driver and 3-4 volunteers to help with a delivery to the most appropriately named client we’ve ever had. I thank you in advance for helping out Ernest and Patience this weekend.
