Now that you have finished digging out from the big storm how about making someone’s day by furnishing their apartment by donating on Sunday for our 2nd March drop off day?
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – Please email us at email@example.com with the date and time you can attend along with your contact number just in case plans change.
Saturday 3/18 – 10a-1p – We are looking for volunteers to help deliver much needed household items to a single gentleman in Hartford.
Sunday 3/19 – 10a-1p – We will be restocking the warehouse and need volunteers to staff the warehouse to greet our donors on drop off day.
Sunday 3/19 – 1p-3p – In the afternoon we need some help to go to Avon to pick up items from 2 donors homes.
Saturday 3/11 – Dave H reported that the Keeley’s were awesome and much appreciated on a cold and windy day! The delivery to Eric went relatively smoothly with only one door having to be removed on a second floor hallway – so not too big of a deal. Dave took one for the team suffering a monster splinter in his hand but we are happy to report he is recovering nicely (OK, it really was nothing).
Sunday 3/12 – Alan H with a team from the Calvary Fellowship were ambitious and completed 2 deliveries to clients that happened to live in the same building. One of the volunteers actually went back after the second delivery to give them something else and found they had already settled in – she was pretty excited about that! 2 happy clients on one delivery is no small feat. Everyone seemed very excited about the work we are doing and several people expressed an interest in serving again.
Sunday 3/12 – Jim R reported that the second half of the Calvary Fellowship team did a great job staffing the warehouse. We took in three drop-offs (kitchen, linens, and lamps/small dresser,) packed kitchen boxes, cleared the incoming staging tables, did significant classification of linens, fixed two pieces of furniture, swept up but forgot to take out the trash. All in all it was an almost perfect drop off day..
Monday 3/13 – Todd P and the regular team of ASD students made a full truck delivery to a very thankful client in Hartford. Bear hugs and tears were involved. That goes to show that we really are making an impact in our community.
