Yesterday you may have received an email from Journey Home about how A Hand Up and Journey Home are joining forces to serve those transitioning from homelessness into apartment living. For some time now we have been serving the same clients and following a similar mission.
We have now decided that joining our best practices, warehouse space and delivery truck with their advanced resources, staffing, fundraising capabilities and most importantly community services coordination will be a much greater benefit to the community than operating side by side.
Moving forward you will be receiving weekly updates directly from Journey Home regarding donation and volunteer needs.
We will start having opportunities to volunteer Tuesday–Friday 9am-12pm each week as well as every Saturday and Sunday 10am-1pm. We are hoping that with the additional days for volunteers, we will be able to get apartments furnished more quickly with less of a wait time for beds and other highly needed items.
We are very excited with the merging of A Hand Up with Journey Home and watching it grow and move forward with helping many more people in need than we ever could before. Our committed volunteers who currently coordinate all aspects of running A Hand Up will remain closely involved during the transition.
