It’s a 3 for 3 weekend! 3 deliveries and 3 pickups!

Sunday 11/19 10a-1p is donor drop off day.  But that’s not all.  We plan on helping 3 clients this weekend and pickup items at 3 donor’s homes.

  • Saturday 11/18 10a-1pWe are looking for a driver and volunteers to meet a client at 10a sharp at the warehouse and then head out on a delivery to a mother and child in Hartford.
  • Sunday 11/19 10a-1pWe are looking for a warehouse lead to meet donors and help a client that is coming to the warehouse.
  • Sunday 11/19 10a-1pWe are looking for a driver and volunteers to make 3 donor pickups.  2 in Avon and 1 in West Hartford.
  • Monday 11/20 1p-3p Todd P is making a delivery with the ASD students.

  • Saturday 11/11 – Sam P, Ivan and Susan K went above and beyond the call of duty.  A client was supposed to come to the warehouse but couldn’t get a truck.  That didn’t stop our volunteers though.  They simply switched the pickup to a delivery.  So they made 2 deliveries instead of 1.  Then Sam P kept going and went out on a donor pickup.   WOW!!!!
  • Sunday 11/12 – Thank you to Michael F, Stephen M, Kaylee P (AHS), David G (AHS) and Angus (NWC) made a tough 3rd floor delivery in Hartford.  Michael P said it was one of the strangest apartments he’s ever seen and Michael is in real estate so that’s saying something.
  • Monday 11/13 – Todd P and the ASD students made a delivery to a mom and her 4 kids in New Britain.  With all that help it was a breeze.

It’s thanksgiving season – come help set up 4 families in their new homes!

We are on a roll.   In the past 2 weeks we have help more families than we did in the entire month of August.  Let’s keep it going with helping 4 people in need this weekend.

  • Saturday 11/11 10a-1pWe are looking for a driver and volunteers to meet a client at the warehouse at 10am sharp.  Once that client is helped then the truck will be loaded up and we are off to help a single woman in Hartford.
  • Sunday 11/12 10a-1p –  Sunday is almost a carbon copy of Saturday with a client coming in at 10am sharp and then a delivery to a single woman in New Britain.   We are looking for a driver and volunteers to help.
  • Monday 11/13 1p-3p –  We are looking for a driver to take the ASD kids out on a delivery to help a client in need.

  • Saturday 11/4 – Sam P, Ivan, Matt S, Alan and Lionel all headed out to do our second 3 for 1 delivery in Hartford.  They were able to help furnish 3 elderly client’s apartments in a new facility in the North end.  While they did that Sheila W stayed behind to greet donors and help a client picking up the items he needed.
  • Sunday 11/5 –  Sam P, Kevin T along with Margie and Matt K headed out to make a delivery to a happy client in Hartford.  They even got a donation of a kitchen table and chairs during the delivery.  A job well done.   While they did that Todd P stayed at the warehouse to do some furniture repairs and cleanup.
  • Monday 11/6 – Thanks to Todd P and the ASD students for making 2 donor pickups in West Hartford.  We need to keep the warehouse stocked.

It’s getting cooler but that doesn’t slow us down.  We are looking for volunteers to help clients coming to the warehouse and making deliveries this weekend.  It’s also donor drop off day Saturday 11/4 from 10am-1pm.

  • Saturday 10/28 – Thank you to Sam P, Ivan and Ted N for making a 3 for 1 stop in Hartford.  Fast and efficient with smiles all around.   While they were our Alan H stayed back at the warehouse to load up a client’s truck and play Mr. Fixit.   
  • Sunday 10/29 – Tom and Jennifer O took a group kids from their church on a delivery in Hartford.  Despite the heavy rain we made a client very happy and also brought smiles of appreciation for a job well done to the church group.
  • Monday 10/30 – Our very active President Michael made a tricky delivery to a family in Hartford with ASD students.   The client already had a lot of items on the list so he had to play negotiator to make them understand that we needed to save the extra items for other clients.

  • Saturday 10/28 10a-1p –  We are looking for a driver and volunteers to help meet a client at the warehouse and then make 3 (YES 3) deliveries to the same building in Hartford.   Fortunately 2 of the deliveries are very small.
  • Sunday 10/29 10a-1 – Tom and Jennifer O’Neil and members of their church are making a deliver to a mother and child in Hartford.  
  • Monday 10/30 1p-3pWe are looking for a driver to work with our ASD students to make a delivery.

  • Saturday 10/21 – We ended up with four volunteers (Alan, Ivan, Matt S, and Tom W) so Alan and Ivan and took off to do the delivery while Matt and Tom stayed back to help the client arriving from Meriden. Carlos was living with borrowed furniture and was very glad for the delivery.
  • Sunday 10/22 –  Sam P reported that the delivery to Teresa went great. Lots of help from our students at NWC, Kevin T and Lionel A made it a breeze. While they were delivering Steve M and his son stayed behind and did some warehouse cleaning (a never ending task).
  • Monday 10/23 – Todd P and the students from ASD made a delivery to an elderly veteran in Hartford.  Fortunately he already had a couch so they didn’t have to deliver one up 3 winding staircases. 

DONATIONS NEEDED – We plan on resuming donation pickups in early November.  We are scheduling them now.

The warehouse is very full and the weather is getting cooler so we are concentrating solely on deliveries for the next 4-6 weeks.  Please come and help out clients that need deliveries and also those coming to the warehouse for what they need this weekend.

  • Monday 10/23 1p-3p – Todd P and ASD are making a delivery to a Veteran in Hartford.

  • Saturday 10/14 – Sam P, Ivan and Lionel put there best foot forward to make a scheduled delivery but then the client unexpectedly wasn’t home.   We appreciate their effort even though it didn’t work out this time.
  • Sunday  10/15 – Michael F worked the warehouse to meet donors and give away some free items to passersby.  While he did that Jim R, Garet and Sam (returning from NWC) picked up items from 2 donors in West Hartford.  After they unloaded the truck Todd P and his son Hayden took it to make a delivery to a new mom in Hartford.   It was a really productive day.
  • Monday 10/16 – Susan K and ASD students made a trip to Hartford to make a big delivery.   She made it look easy and rallied the troops for a successful day.
  • Tuesday 10/17 – Todd P and Michael F made a quick afternoon delivery to a client who had a furnished studio apartment but was sleeping on the floor because he didn’t have a bed.  A Hand Up fixed that.

DONATIONS NEEDED  – We are not accepting new household donations at this time with the exception of donor drop off days on the 1st Saturday and 3rd Sunday of each month.  We expect to resume accepting donations in 4-6 weeks.

Another busy weekend ahead!!!

We are looking for volunteers to help us on a busy weekend.  Don’t forget to stop by for our donor drop off day on Sunday 10/15.   We will also be offering up some free items that our clients typically don’t request to anyone that stops by to help us gain much needed warehouse space.

  • Sun 10/15 10a-1p – We are looking for a driver and volunteers to make 2 donor pickups in West Hartford and then a delivery on Farmington Ave in Hartford.  It will be a fulfilling day.
  • Mon 10/16 1p-3p – Sue K and ASD are making a delivery in Hartford.

DONATIONS NEEDED – We have a full warehouse and are limiting donations to smaller furniture, bedding and kitchen items that you can drop off on your own.  We expect to begin donor pickups again after 12/1.

Our warehouse has a little room for some more great donations.  Saturday 10/7 10am-1pm is donor drop off day.  Then we plan to put those donations to good use on Sunday 10/8 at 10am with a delivery.

  • Saturday 9/30 –   Susan K, Sam P and Alan H reported they had a great delivery! The client had been living in an empty apartment except for a twin blow up mattress for months!  In a blink of an eye her place was furnished with a bed, nightstand, sofa, end tables, kitchen table and chairs, and kitchen goods. She told us her place now feels like a home!
  • Sunday 10/1 – Todd P and Steve M made a quick delivery to Carlos.   He already had some furnishing but needed some more items (like a bed).  His 4th floor walk up is now fully furnished and Carlos is a happy man.
  • Monday 10/2 – Susan K and the kids from ASD made another client very happy with a fully furnished home.
